Diocesan Cathedral Marks its Feast Day

On Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14, 2018 the Diocesan Cathedral of the Protection of the Mother of God celebrated its annual feast day. Divine Services were led by His Eminence, Archbishop Peter of Chicago & Mid-America. His Eminence, Archbishop Alypy, retired ruling hierarch of the diocese, was also present at the Divine Services on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. In addition to the hierarchs each of the Deans from the diocese participated in the Divine Services, as well as many visiting clergy from throughout the diocese. At the Divine Liturgy on the feast Protodeacon Sergei Chebotar, cleric of the St. Sergius Cathedral in Parma/Cleveland, Ohio, was ordained a priest. Fr. Sergei will serve at the Parma Cathedral. Hundreds of the faithful partook of Holy Communion from three chalices. Following the Divine Liturgy a festal cross procession was held under the clear blue skies provided by the Lord for the feast of His Most Pure Mother. The cathedral sisterhood provided a delicious meal for hundreds of the gathered worshipers. Many of the clergy and faithful lingered at the meal well into the afternoon, recalling the feast day and past feast days at which the clergy of the diocese gathered at the main temple of the Mid-American diocese.
