Archbishop Peter Visits Rome – Day 2

On September 2, 2022 Archbishop Peter continued his visit to Rome. His Eminence visited the Basilica of St. Clement on this day. The Basilica hold the relics of Sts. Gregory the God-Bearer, St. Clement, and the Equal of the Apostles St. Cyril. St. Dimitri of Rostov in his "Lives of the Saints" mentions the burial of St. Cyril near St. Clement at the Basilica of St. Clement.

At the Basilica His Eminence was greeted by Father Paul Lawlor O.P. Fr. Paul is the Dean of the Basilica and gave a tour of the Basilica and excavations below. His Eminence prayed before the relics of the aforementioned saints on the main floor of the Basilica. He then was taken down to the excavations and walked upon the same floor of the original Basilica that Sts. Cyril and Methodius walked. He was then shown the tomb of St. Cyril.

His eminence then visited the Colosseum and asked the prayers of the countless holy martyrs that gave there lives there for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.
