Protection of the Mother of God – Second Pascha of the Diocesan Cathedral

The annual feast day of the Protection of the Mother of God is always an occasion of the gathering of a great number of clergy and laity from throughout the diocese. Traditionally a pastoral retreat is held for the diocesan clergy around the feast. But this year, due to the pandemic, there was no pastoral retreat. And the faithful gathered in much smaller numbers than usual. Nonetheless, this is the second Pascha of the diocesan cathedral, and the Divine Services were held as triumphantly as possible, led by Archbishop Peter himself, and with the diocesan Deans and several of clergymen (who were invited to receive ecclesiastical awards) participating.

Those receiving awards were:

Priest Sergii Alekseev: Elevated to Archpriest

Priest Christopher Allen: Elevated to Archpriest

Priest Zachary Rose: Kamilavka

Priest Matthew Floyd: Liturgical Skufia

Priest Ioann Komisarchuk: Liturgical Skufia

Deacon Alexander Tihonow: Double Orarion

Following the Divine Liturgy on the day of the feast a small gathering of clergy, choir, and a few others was held at a local restaurant. Following the meal all departed to their homes with thanks to God that even during these extraordinary times it was possible to celebrate the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God.
