Second Pascha in Houghton

The main feast day of the Sts. Sergius & Herman Monastery in Houghton, Michigan is celebrated annually on September 11/24 – the Translation of the Relics of the Venerable Fathers Sergius & Herman of Valaam. This year the brotherhood marked the feast with the appointed Divine Services, welcoming a limited number of guests. His Eminence, Archbishop Peter, was not able to travel to the monastery due to the ongoing pandemic. Via the Dean of the Michigan Parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR), Fr. Gregory Joyce, Vladyka sent his condolences, his blessings, and his greetings on the second Pascha of the only temple named in honor of St. Sergius & Herman of Valaam in ROCOR. The following clergymen took part in the Divine services for the feast:

Archpriest Gregory Joyce, Dean of Michigan ROCOR Parishes

Hieromonk Aidan (Keller), Clergyman of Monastery Hieromonk Raphael (Tadros), Rector of St. George Parish, Michigan City, Indiana

Priest Kristijan Petrovich, Rector of St. George Serbian Parish, Duluth, Minnesota

Priest Benjamin Naasko, Clergyman of the Monastery Hierodeacon Alexei (Dixon), Clergyman of the Monastery

Deacon Colin Bower, St. Vladimir Church, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Following the Divine Liturgy on the feast day itself, the usual procession took place around the temple, and the gathered clergy and faithful partook in a festal meal prepared by the faithful of the monastery.
