Christ the Savior Downriver Feast Day

On Thursday, August 29 the missionary community located in the “Downriver” (South of Detroit) region marked its feast day. This parish, named Christ the Savior, celebrates its feast day on the day of the Image of our Lord not Made by Hands. The evening services for this year’s feast day were celebrated in the mission’s sister parish in Ann Arbor, MI due to the groundbreaking for the Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy. Divine Liturgy was served by the Dean of Michigan parishes, Archpriest Gregory Joyce. The faithful gathered to sing the service, partake of the Holy Mysteries, and ask the Lord’s blessing on their efforts to bring Orthodox Christianity to the urban area in which the mission is located: River Rouge, MI and its neighboring cities (including Southern Detroit). The mission asks the prayers of all for the success of their work!
