Archbishop Peter meets with Bishop Sylvester at Kiev Theological Academy

On Friday, May 18/31, 2019 His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago & Mid-America, President of the Pastoral School of the diocese, met with Bishop Sylvester of Belogorod, Rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy, to discuss the cooperative agreement between the two theological schools. Bishop Sylvester has been appointed Rector since the cooperative agreement was signed in 2017, and this first meeting of the two heads of the schools provided the opportunity to review cooperation to date, as well as plan future projects. Many subjects were discussed that will strengthen the relationship between the schools, including visiting professorships and the exchange of instructors, the exchange of students, the joint publishing of theological books, and more. These joint projects will provide opportunities for the students and faculty of both schools to continue the process of reconciliation between the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church Moscow Patriarchate. Archbishop Peter’s visit to Ukraine continues until June 4, when His Eminence will return to the diocese to lead the memorial services for the newly-reposed Archbishop Alypy the evening of June 5, preceding the All Night Vigil that evening for the great feast of the Ascension of the Lord.

An article on the meeting of the hierarchs can be found at the web site of the Kyiv Theological Academy, along with pictures of the event: http://kdais.kiev.ua/event/Ректор-КДАіС-провів-зустріч-з-архієпи/
