Mayor Michael D. Bowdler and the City of River Rouge
along with All Saints Orthodox Mission Church
welcomes the
Michigan Deanery Choir
on Friday, December 16, 2016
at the River Rouge Municipal Complex in River Rouge, Michigan.
Led by Anastasia Klimzo, the Michigan Deanery Choir (out of Ann Arbor) is a group of very talented musicians and performers originally from Eastern Europe who provide very traditional entertainment for everyone who enjoys this happy, cultural deep and exciting genre. This is not just for people from that area of the world, although their authenticity inspires large groups to attend.
Our rector, V. Rev Gregory Joyce, who was instrumental in getting the group here and will Emcee our event, commented, "This is not a Fund-Raiser, however should be considered a Friend-Raiser as we wanted to bring the Deanery Choir to the Downriver Communities for those people who may be trying to find this wonderful culture. We found out that people associate this culture to our Holy Orthodoxy and we would like to bring awareness to our little mission group, who works hard to bring our very traditional faith in an English speaking based format, and want to attract our Lost Sheep, as well as others who may be looking for a deep, rich Christian Faith that can be tracked back to the original 12 Apostles."
There will also be a major announcement as All Saints Orthodox Church has made a commitment to move to River Rouge, (and responsible for opening 3 other businesses onto West Jefferson), as this wonderful little community returns to prosperity after the local Drawbridge have become functional, again. By a special arrangement made with our rector (because we were able to book them on such short notice), we will not be selling tickets, but will be asking everyone to donate on a Free Will basis! There will also be some vendors to promote the businesses, Cultural displays as well as Tea and Cookies and different souvineers for purchase.
