Peter Gudkov, а soloist of the Sretensky Monastery Choir passed away in the Lord on June 27, 2016 at the age of 40 in Sergiev Posad, Russia after a long and hard fought battle with Hodgkin Lymphoma.
As many of you know, Peter came to Chicago for treatment in October 2012 and became a part of the Holy Virgin Protection Cathedral family as he underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, returning to Russia in July 2013.
Peter's steadfast faith during his illness was an incredible example to those that knew him - he never lost faith in God, hope, or stopped fighting the disease that first afflicted him over 10 years ago.
Peter is survived by his wife Natasha, and daughters Katya and Anastasia.
On behalf of Peter's family, the family of Father Andre Papkov, whom Peter lived with in Chicago, we would like to thank you all for your prayers for Peter. We would also like to thank those who donated financial support to raise over $400,000 to cover Peter's medical treatment. Peter's life is an inspiring and beautiful example of what love and faith can achieve, bringing people from all over the world together to achieve the seemingly insurmountable.
May his memory be eternal!
