St. George's Moves to New Church Building

St. George Parish moves into New Church

A year after construction first began on its new building in the Cincinnati suburb of Loveland, St. George parish received an occupancy permit on Friday, October 11, 2013. The final vigil and Divine Liturgy were served Oct. 12-13 at the Blue Ash location, the parish’s home for its first 25 years.

At the end of the Liturgy the altar table was removed by parish deacon Fr. Alexander Petrovsky and subdeacon Sergi Kaminsky and placed in a trailer. Parish priest Pavel Akmolin carried the Gospel and antimins, while parish rector, priest Daniel Marshall, carried the tabernacle and reserve Gifts. Parishioners removed icons from the interior of the Church and a procession was made by car to the new Church.

The altar table was placed in the nave of the new Church and a lesser blessing of a Church was served. Archpriest Paul Bassett, rector emeritus, sprinkled the first Holy Water. The parish clergy continued blessing the building with Holy Water while parishioners followed carrying icons in procession. After the dismissal, the altar table was moved into the altar.

A Thanksgiving Moleben was then served, fittingly expressing the parishioners’ enormous gratitude to God and St. George for the beautiful new Church and hall. These structures are the fruit of many prayers, much planning, and enormous labor which began more than a decade ago. After being sprinkled with Holy Water, parishioners gathered in the spacious hall to enjoy the first trapeza in the new building.

The parish of St. George invites all the clergy and faithful of the diocese to visit on November 15-16 for the celebration of their new Church and the 25th anniversary of the parish. A seminar on the Mission of ROCOR in the 21st Century will be held in the day on Friday, Nov. 15. Services for this feast of St. George will be lead by His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion along with His Grace, Bishop Peter and His Grace, Bishop George. Thanks be to God for His abundant blessings!
