Hierarchical Service in Madison

On the third Saturday of Great Lent, the newly established mission of the Icon of the Mother of God "of Tenderness" in Madison, WI had its first archpastoral visit.  His Grace, Bishop Peter officiated the Divine Liturgy on the Fore-feast of the Annunciation in the Greek Dormition Church which the Greek Archdiocese has graciously allowed them to use.  Celebrating with Bishop Peter were: Fr. John Sykaluk of St. Vladimir church in Rock City, IL; Fr. Anthony Alekseyenko of St Panteleimon church in Minneapolis, MN and Fr. Vasyl Kuzmich, pastor of the Holy Trinity Church in Milwuakee who ministers to the mission in Madison, along with Fr. Michael Vanderhoef, presiding priest of the Dormtion Greek Orthodox church in which the service was held.  In attendance were more than 50 people who came to this first Hierarchal service with many receiving the Holy Gifts.  In his sermon, Bishop Peter noted that in each and every service, the church especially prays for the founders of the parish and exhorted all present to work together to help establish a church presence in Madison.  An abundant lenten meal was served in the parish hall downstairs following the Divine Liturgy
