St. George's holds benefit dinner
On February 10, 2012, the parish of St George the Great Martyr in Cincinnati, Ohio held its seventh annual fundraising event, A Russian Winter’s Night. Held in elegant, old-world Peterloon Estate, the evening included a gourmet Russian-themed dinner, auction, basket raffle, and musical entertainment by the St Nicholas Balalaika Ensemble of Mogadore, Ohio. Special guests who travSteled to Cincinnati to attend included His Grace, Bishop George of Mayfield; Hieromonk Alexander of Holy Cross Monastery; Rev. Fr. Ilia Marzev, dean of St Sergius Cathedral in Cleveland; Rev. Fr. Daniel Marshall of Goshen, Indiana; and Fr. Deacon Alexander Petrovsky of Wheaton, Illinois. The parish of St George, with the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Peter, will begin construction of a new temple in the spring, and all monies from A Russian Winter’s Night will benefit this building effort.
