On Sunday, November 13, at the invitation of His Grace Bishop Longin of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Bishop Peter participated in the consecration of St. Sava Orthodox Church in Houston, TX.  Bishop Longin, as the ruling hierarch, presided over both the Consecration and Divine Liturgy.  He was also joined in concelebration by his fellow hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Grace Bishop George of Canada, Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America and Bishop Maxim of Western America.  Twelve priests and three deacons also participated in the service, among them ROCOR clergy from the Houston metropolitan area.  

The parish consists of 100 families. Some years back they purchased 10 acres of prime suburban land, just north of Houston. On the premises they built a hall, rectory and finally a beautiful church in traditional Serbian architecture. 

Saturday's All-night Vigil was sung by both the clergy and local choir, after which a meal was served for all in the church hall. 

Following the Consecration and Divine Liturgy on Sunday, a festive trapeza was hosted by the parish in a rented hall. The parishioners presented an entertaining program that lasted well into the afternoon. 

After the reception Bishop George expressed an interest to see St. Jonah Orthodox Church (ROCOR).  The rector, Fr. John Whiteford, drove Bishops George and Peter to his parish were Matushka Whiteford together with her daughters treated the bishops to tea and ice cream.
