Archbishop Gabriel of Canada serves at the cathedral

Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012. Attending the annual meeting of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops which took place Sept 10-11th in Chicago, two ROCOR hierarchs arrived early and served at the cathedral. Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada served at the Vigil and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy over the weekend concelebrated by Bishop Peter and the cathedral clergy. Bishop George of Mayfield also served at the Vigil service on Saturday night and then celebrated a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at St. Innocent's church in Wheaton to mark the anniversary of their founding. The service there was followed by a picnic which was also attended by Vladika Gabriel and Vladika Peter. Fr. Tarasiy Maksimtsev who had been attached to the cathedral as a staff priest was officially appointed as Acting Rector for St. Innocent's on this Sunday and Fr. Jeremiah Loch was officially recognized as Rector Emeritus. Axios!
