Bishop Peter visits Orthodox Churches in the Austin, TX area

While making an archpastoral visit to Holy Virgin Protection Russian Orthodox Church in Austin, TX, Bishop Peter of Cleveland visited two other local Orthodox Churches.  Upon arrival at the Austin airport, His Grace traveled to Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church at the invitation of the rector, Fr. Vasileios Flegas.  Bishop Peter was accompanied by Fr. Aidan Keller of Holy Protection Church and Deacon Alexander Petrovsky (Chicago).  The setting of the church was quite striking as it sits atop one of the highest points in the Austin area.  The stone church, surrounded by trees and rocky outcrops, certainly makes one think of Mount Tabor.

His Grace then traveled to St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Mission.  The parish priest, Fr. Dragoljub Popovich, who served several Serbian parishes in the Chicago area, recently moved to Austin and started a Serbian Orthodox Mission.  Fr. Dragoljub and his wife, Protonitsa Milena, gave Bishop Peter a tour of the new church property, outlining their plans for establishing a church for the Serbian Orthodox community in the Austin area.

Following the visit, Bishop Peter continued to Holy Virgin Protection Church to prepare for the All-night Vigil.  More information on His Grace's arch-pastoral visit may be seen here:  http://www.allmercifulsavior.com/Vizit/Vizit.html
