Bishop Peter of Cleveland Visits St. Vladimir Parish in Ann Arbor, MI
On the Sunday before Theophany His Grace Bishop Peter of Cleveland, Administrator of the Diocese of Chicago & Mid-America visited his flock in Ann Arbor, MI. On Friday evening January 15 Bishop Peter gave a short talk at the parish’s annual Nativity Ball fund raiser.
On the evening of January 16 His Grace officiated at the Vigil service. Joining him were Priest Gregory Joyce, Rector of the St. Vladimir Parish, Priest Victor Trotskyy, Rector of the Dormition Cathedral in Ferndale, MI, Protodeacon Vadim Gan of the Diocesan Cathedral of the Protection of the Mother of God in Des Plaines, IL, Deacon John Feloniuk of the St. Vladimir Parish, and Deacon Anthony Alekseyenko (a student at Sretensky Seminary in Moscow and clergyman of the diocese of Chicago & Mid-America). The choir sang marvelously under the direction of Mrs. Julia Easson-Meyer.
Bishop Peter was greeted on January 17 before the Divine Liturgy by the festive ringing of the parish’s bells rung by several of the young ladies of the parish. Assistant Starosta Konstantin Poplavsky warmly greeted His Grace with a speech welcoming him to the parish and assuring him that the hearts of the parishioners rejoice each time their spiritual leader visits them. Several of the young gentlemen of the parish presented His Grace with the traditional bread and salt. At the hours proceeding the Divine Liturgy Rafael Scrochi was tonsured a Reader for service at St. Vladimir parish. The Divine Liturgy was sung beautifully by the parish choir, again under the direction of Mrs. Julia Easson-Meyer. Following the Divine Liturgy the parish sisterhood presented a festive meal in honor of His Grace’s visit. Following the meal and many long goodbyes Bishop Peter departed for Chicago to preside at the Divine Services for the great feast of our Lord’s Theophany.
